Integrative Medicine

Pediatric Care

Pediatric care typically includes

  • Preventive Health Services: Well-child visits, immunizations, growth and developmental screenings, and anticipatory guidance.
  • Acute Care: Assessment and management of common childhood illnesses, infections, and injuries that do not require emergency intervention.
  • Chronic Condition Management: Ongoing monitoring and support for stable or subacute conditions such as asthma, eczema, or ADHD.
  • Parental Support and Education: Guidance on nutrition, behavior, sleep, and general child development.
  • Referral Coordination: Collaboration with specialists, therapists, and community resources when additional care is needed.

This setting allows for timely, family-centered care in a familiar and supportive environment, promoting trust and optimal health outcomes throughout the stages of childhood

Episodic Care

Episodic Care for Children

Episodic care refers to short-term, focused medical attention provided for acute, self-limiting conditions that arise unexpectedly and do not require long-term follow-up. In pediatric practice, this may include:

  • Evaluation and treatment of minor respiratory infections (e.g., colds, sore throat, ear infections)
  • Management of mild gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting, diarrhea, constipation)
  • Care for skin conditions such as rashes, insect bites, or minor injuries
  • Assessment of fever or other non-urgent symptoms

Episodic care in an office-based setting ensures timely access to treatment, minimizes unnecessary emergency department visits, and provides reassurance and guidance to families during isolated episodes of illness.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is a comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to healthcare that combines conventional Western medical practices with complementary therapies to address the physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions of health. This model emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, and leverages all appropriate, scientifically validated interventions to achieve optimal health and healing.

Key principles of integrative medicine include:

  • Whole-person care: Recognizing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit in health and healing
  • Evidence-based practice: Applying rigorous scientific evaluation to both conventional and complementary therapies
  • Personalized treatment: Tailoring care plans to each patient’s unique needs, values, and preferences
  • Health promotion and disease prevention: Emphasizing lifestyle, nutrition, and proactive wellness strategies alongside medical treatment
  • Collaborative care: Involving a multidisciplinary team when appropriate to support comprehensive care delivery

Integrative medicine is used to manage a variety of conditions—including chronic illness, pain, stress-related disorders, and pediatric concerns—while empowering patients to actively participate in their own care.
